Course Information

This course (which replaces UEENEEE101A) and provides you with the knowledge and training to cover the mandatory requirements of work health and safety and how they apply to the various electrotechnology work functions.

It encompasses responsibilities for health and safety, risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

This course is suitable for anyone who has the need to understand basic work related requirements of WHS in the electrotechnology industry.

You can use these skills in your workplace but they also can apply to general situations in the home, and in community settings.

What will you learn?

You will gain and overview and basic understanding of:

  • The basic legal requirements covering occupational health and safety in the workplace
  • What constitutes a safe work environment
  • Manual Handling requirements
  • The requirements for safe use of chemicals used in the workplace
  • The requirements for working at heights
  • The requirements for confined spaces
  • The physical and psychological hazards in the workplace
  • Working safely with electricity
  • Emergency CPR and life support in the workplace (this is not a CPR course)

Award issued:

Students who successfully complete both the theoretical and practical assessment components of this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:

  • UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace

This course is delivered Fully Online

  • Completion of self paced online learning which can take up to 4-6 hours (time taken varies depending on student committment)
  • Submmission of two photographs: one showing you wearing PPE (Hard hat, Safety glasses, Hi Viz Vest and Hearing Protection) and a second one showing your full face whilst holding a government issued photo ID (such as a driver's licence)
  • Course enrolment is 90 days - You have a maximum of 90 days to complete both the online and the practical components of this course.
  • All assessments are submitted via our online learning portal.
  • All learning material for this unit is provided via our online learning portal.

Learner Requirements

You will require access to a computer or laptop and an internet connection to complete this course.

You must also be able to use a web browser(such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) and have your own valid email address. Shared emails addresses are not permitted, if you do not have your own email we suggest you create a Gmail address here

Access to:

  • A digital camera or phone with camera facilities
  • An approved Australian Standard (AS/NZS 1801:1997) Safety Helmet (commonly called a hard hat)
  • An approved Australian Standard (AS/NZS 1337.1:2010)
  • Eye Protection (commonly called Safety Glasses or Safety Googles)
  • An approved Australian Standard (AS/NZS 1270:2002) hearing protection (commonly called earmuffs or earplugs)
  • A HI VIZ vest or shirt

A learner undertaking this course will require a specific skill level in Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy.

This course has been assessed as requiring the following Australian Core Skills Framework levels:

  • Learning - Level 2
  • Reading - Level 2
  • Writing - Level 2
  • Oral Communication - Level 2
  • Numeracy - Level 2
